Stavros Varveris, Associate

Stavros Varveris is a graduate of the School of Law of the University of Nicosia and holds two LL.M. degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He completed an LL.M. in Civil Law and Modern Financial Transactions, with a thesis entitled “Artificial Intelligence Issues in Copyright Law: The Application of Copyright Law in the Context of AI System Training”, and subsequently an LL.M. in Business Law, specializing in Industrial Property and Competition Law. His second LL.M. thesis was entitled “Issues of Abuse of Dominant Position arising from the Use of Content for the Training of Artificial Intelligence Systems.” He speaks Greek and English fluently.

He joined A. & K. Metaxopoulos & Partners Law Firm as a trainee lawyer in November 2024 and currently works as an Associate. His practice focuses mainly on Intellectual Property Law, Media Law, Competition Law, Employment Law, Data Protection and Litigation. He is involved in legal research, drafting litigation support, compliance and advisory work, as well as the preparation and review of legal documentation.

Stavros has also gained experience in intellectual property and data protection, including a case-study project carried out under the supervision of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, as well as a research project for the Hellenic Copyright Organization on the remuneration schemes of Collective Management Organizations across different jurisdictions.

His publications include “Greece’s Law No. 5271/2026: A New Legal Framework to Combat Art Forgery and Protect Artworks and Collectibles”, published by the International Lawyers Network IP Group, and “AI Training and Copyright: Towards a Remuneration Right for Creators”, published by Lexology.
